This is my styrogami! I call it "Styrofoam Castle" because it sort of looks like one. This took some trial and error; I tried to make the tops fit together with the triangles, but it didn't work out. So, I cut the bottom out and started cutting it upwards in a diagonal direction to make it swirl, then I stuck it in the first cup. I used some of the cut out pieces to make little decorations on the inside. I have now developed a skill for making styrofoam sculptures. This is our first abstract painting, and our first collaborative project. We call it "Cold Winter Night" because of all the cold colors we used. Our inspiration came from multi-media compositions we made at the beginning of the year. We took a view finder and found a part to enlarge, which looked similar to this. We started out with this light purple color, then added multiple layers after that. We also used textures, dots, and splattered paint. My group members and I all took risks making this. We added colors when we didn't know if they would work or not, and we added lines when we didn't know if they would fit or not. All in all, I had fun making this painting!
I call this "Oak City Trees" because it was originally a photo I took in Oak City, and I decided to use it for my project. I used chalk/soft pastels to complete this. I used it lightly for the trees then pushed it harder for the shadows (a mix of brown and blue). I also used yellow and blue for the leaves, not green. I put more blue for the darker areas and more yellow for the lighter ones. I used an eraser for the sun rays on the right. I wanted to create that original photo for a while, and now I got my opportunity to do so. The final piece is not exactly what I had in mind, but I still think it came out alright.
